Figured Rosewood and Narra Cane
Figured Rosewood and Narra Cane
An heirloom quality piece, this cane is made from collector quality pieces of rare exotic wood. The handle is crotch figured Oliveri rosewood with a lovely array of colors and grain patterns. Its a species of rosewood little known in the world and very rare, considerably rarer with special grain like this. The divider is red amboyna burl from Vietnam, often considered the most beautiful burl wood in the world. "Amboyna" is actually a catch-all common name for several species of wood that produce red burl from S. E. Asia. But traditionally Amboyna burl comes from the Narra tree, which is the shaft wood on this cane. This example is curl figured Narra from Laos that I've had for a long time, its the best I've had and quite special. The grain is also chatoyant, a dynamic effect that can't be captured in pictures. This is a great cane for wood-grain lovers who are comfortable with bold color. Its medium in weight and daily use appropriate, can be used by anyone. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.
