Pernambuco and Ebony Cane
Pernambuco and Ebony Cane
This cane is an eye-catcher in both color and style! The handle is made from Pernambuco wood, a species that's endangered because it has been in high demand since Europeans discovered S. America. At first the wood was an important trade resource because it was used to make dye, in addition to violin bows, which it is still used for today. The wood was so important in its day that a region of Brazil was named after this wood. The shaft is black Nigerian ebony wood, a rare wood that's also been in high demand for hundreds of years for its unique blackness. Moderate towards heavy in weight, would make a good daily user or special occasion piece. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.
