This beauty is made exclusively out of a very obscure and rare species from Australia called "Needlewood". The handle and shaft are both from the same tree, the red colored portion is the heartwood of the tree and the ivory colored portions are the sapwood. Needlewood is a dense arid region tree and my stock of Needlewood was salvaged from a dead, downed tree. This Needlewood doesn't have any "figure" per se, such as "curl, or burl", but its has such a unique and interesting grain that this wood practically has its own special figure! Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.

This ivory Needlewood shaft is my last one, and but it has two dark spots natural to the wood which draw the eye. I consider them defects that detract from the cane's overall appearance. One is just under the divider and is small, the other is close to half way down the shaft. Both are photographed. Rare and beautiful woods like this down get tossed out for any reason!
