Afzelia and Skeoak Cane with Bruneau Jasper
Afzelia and Skeoak Cane with Bruneau Jasper
A wonderful, collector quality cane, this piece has rare woods with exquisite figure. the handle is one of the rarest and most expensive woods in the whole world, its Afzelia from S. E. Asia with “Xylay” figure, a type of curl. This figure is unique to Afzelia, no other species make patterns like you'll see on this handle. Its very 3 Dimensional looking, like curl figure, but the ripples are interconnected in ways that doesn’t even make sense. Regardless, its beautiful to look at and a privilege to offer. On the end of the handle is a handsome example of Bruneau Jasper from Idaho, one of finest of the porcelain pictures jaspers, showing its sought-after orbs. The shaft is one of my favorite woods for its awesome, detailed grain and eye-catching color, its lace figured Sheoak wood form Australia. Rare and considerably rarer with figure as seen on this example. A functional cane with average weight, total length measures 38” and can be shortened to fit.
