Figured Rosewood Fishhook Cane
Figured Rosewood Fishhook Cane
This heirloom quality cane is handcrafted entirely from a rosewood species so rare that it doesn't have a "common name" only its Latin scientific name, Dalbergia Dognaiensis. A obscure rainforest species from S. E. Asia that is essentially unknown. Moreover, this cane is figured examples of this wood with wild grain, some curl figure, and a wonderful chatoyance - beyond rare! The artistic handle is an Indonesian fish hook inspired style, only our second cane using this style. It's comfortable to hold and very eye-catching. The shaft has a strong taper to accentuate the style, and a copper divider complements the warm colors of the rosewood. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.
It took a large piece of wood to make this large handle, enough wood to have made 3-4 more compact handle styles.
