Vasticola and Bubinga Cane
Vasticola and Bubinga Cane
This gallery worthy piece exhibits burl wood at its finest! The handle is Vasticola burl from Australia, I bought a block of this wood 7 years ago and finally cut into it to make this piece. It's two toned on one side with light sapwood beautifully intermixing with its wild grain into the red heartwood. Vasticola is rarer than most Australian burls and like most its very dense and heavy. The divider is a piece of uniquely figured rosewood and copper metal, which leads into a bubinga wood shaft. Bubinga is dense, chatoyant, colorful, and becoming rarer by the year since it became a protected species in 2016. Medium towards heavy in weight. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.
