Siam and Shedua Bird Cane
Siam and Shedua Bird Cane
This eye-catching bird cane features a curl figured Siam rosewood handle and a chatoyant, golden shedua shaft. Siam rosewood is a very rare wood to begin with, but this example with tiny 3D curls in the grain is quite a nice example of the species. Siamese rosewood is one of the nicest rosewoods because of its excellent physical properties for use as a functional implement, and its very beautiful with great chatoyancy and color. Shedua wood has always been a favorite of mine to pair with red colored rosewood, its super shimmery grain and golden colors play wonderfully with the reds and oranges of the handle. The shaft also has some curl figure, though not very strong, it does add to the chatoyancy and beauty. A good, medium weight, daily use cane with beautiful woods. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.
