Desert Acacia, Mammoth Cane
Desert Acacia, Mammoth Cane
Here is a gorgeous pistol grip style cane with incredible woods and ancient ice age ivory. The handle is an obscure arid acacia species from Australia that grows on the fridge of the outback called "Western Myall". This is a rare wood, but exponentially rarer with exhibition grade curl figure, its a privilege to offer. The divider and the end of the handle are flawless pieces of tusk from the extinct ice age megafauna, the woolly mammoth. The pieces are around 30,000 years old, or older! The tusk was excavated from the permafrost near Fairbanks Alaska, where it was perfectly preserved in the ice since the last ice age. A wonder of natural history. The shaft is dark macassar ebony, when in brighter light its handsome grain will begin to show and it’ll appear shades of brown with a nice chatoyance. It’s not my heaviest, but its has a respectable weight to it, users of small stature may tire with extended use. A very durable piece, perfect for any occasion. Total length measures 38" and can be shortened to fit.
The last image is of the Acacia papyrocarpa tree (Western Myall) in its natural range.
